Welcome to MapToWork. By accessing or using our career assessment and exploration platform (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and MapToWork ("we," "us," or "our"). If you are under 18 years old, your parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms on your behalf.

MapToWork is an educational platform that provides:
- Career interest assessments based on the RIASEC/Holland Code model
- Personalized career recommendations and matching
- Information about careers, including job duties, education requirements, and salary data
- Recommended training programs and college majors
- Suggested high school course pathways
- Tools to save and track career interests
- Dashboard to view assessment history and results
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
3.1 Age Requirements
- Ages 13 and older: May create an account with a valid email address
- Under 13: Requires parental consent and parent email address
- Under 18: Parent or guardian must review and approve these Terms
3.2 Account Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain the security of your password and account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Not share your account credentials with others
- Not create multiple accounts for the same person
- Update your information to keep it accurate
3.3 Account Types
- Student: For individuals taking assessments and exploring careers
- Parent: For parents/guardians monitoring student progress
- Educator: For teachers and school counselors
4. Acceptable Use Policy
4.1 Permitted Uses
You may use MapToWork for:
- Personal career exploration and educational planning
- Taking career interest assessments
- Researching career options and educational pathways
- Saving and tracking your career interests
- Sharing results with parents, guardians, and authorized school personnel (at your discretion)
4.2 Prohibited Uses
You may NOT:
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Copy, modify, or distribute content from the Service without permission
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access or collect data
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use the Service to spam or send unsolicited communications
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
5. Educational Content and Career Information
5.1 Assessment Accuracy
Our career assessments are based on the established RIASEC/Holland Code framework. While we strive for accuracy, assessment results are guidance tools only and should not be considered absolute career determinants. Individual circumstances, interests, and abilities vary.
5.2 Career Data
Career information, including job descriptions, salary data, and education requirements, is compiled from publicly available sources including:
- U.S. Department of Labor O*NET database
- Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)
- Department of Education CIP code classifications
This information is updated regularly but may not reflect the most current data. Salary figures are estimates and vary by location, experience, and employer. Always verify career information with additional sources.
5.3 No Guarantee of Outcomes
MapToWork provides educational information and guidance. We do not guarantee:
- Employment in any recommended career
- Admission to any educational program
- Specific salary or job placement outcomes
- That recommendations will match your future interests or abilities
6. Intellectual Property Rights
6.1 Our Content
All content on MapToWork, including text, graphics, logos, interface design, code, and software, is owned by MapToWork or our licensors and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
6.2 Your Assessment Data
You retain ownership of your personal assessment responses and career interests. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to use this data to:
- Provide and improve our services
- Generate your assessment results
- Create anonymized, aggregated statistics for research
6.3 Attribution
Career data is provided by government sources and is in the public domain. Assessment methodology is based on John Holland's RIASEC theory.
7. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Key privacy protections include:
- COPPA compliance for users under 13
- FERPA compliance for student educational records

8. Subscription and Payment Terms
MapToWork currently offers free access to all features. If we introduce paid subscriptions or premium features in the future:
- We will provide at least 30 days notice before charging for previously free features
- Existing users will have the option to opt-out or downgrade
- Payment terms will be clearly disclosed before purchase
- Refund policies will be provided
9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.2 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MAPTOWORK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Career decisions made based on assessment results
- Educational or employment outcomes
- Lost data or corrupted files
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Lost profits or opportunities
- Third-party actions or content
9.3 Third-Party Links
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or resources (e.g., college websites, career information). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of these external sites.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MapToWork and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
- Your breach of any applicable laws or regulations
11. Termination
11.1 Your Rights
You may terminate your account at any time by:
- Using the account deletion feature in your profile settings
- Contacting us at support@maptowork.com
11.2 Our Rights
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Your account is inactive for more than 2 years
- We discontinue the Service (with 30 days notice)
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service immediately ceases
- Your personal data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
- Assessment results may be retained in anonymized form for research
12. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we do:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- We will notify you via email or prominent website notice for significant changes
- Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
- If you disagree with changes, you must stop using the Service and delete your account
13. Dispute Resolution
13.1 Informal Resolution
If you have a dispute with MapToWork, please contact us first at support@maptowork.com to attempt an informal resolution.
13.2 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where MapToWork is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.3 Arbitration
Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be settled through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law (e.g., claims under $10,000 or claims by minors).
14. General Provisions
14.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MapToWork.
14.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
14.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
14.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account to any third party without our written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
